MAAUN, BUK Sign Partnership Agreement on Research, Exchange Programmes
Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) and Bayero University Kano (BUK) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening academic collaboration, research development and institutional partnership between the two universities.
The agreement covers faculty and student exchange programmes, joint research initiatives, conferences, seminars, academic publications and scholarship opportunities.
The partnership is also expected to promote innovation and deepen cooperation in areas of mutual academic and professional interest.
The MAAUN delegation was received on arrival at Bayero University Kano by the Vice Chancellor of BUK, Professor Haruna Musa, alongside the University Registrar, Malam Haruna Aliyu, and other principal officers of the institution before proceeding to the formal signing ceremony.
Speaking during the event, the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Professor Haruna Musa, expressed appreciation to the management of MAAUN for the visit and described the partnership as a positive development for both institutions.
He reaffirmed BUK’s commitment to continue serving as a mentor university to MAAUN and assured that the institution would remain open to offering necessary support and guidance whenever required.

Professor Musa also commended the Founder of MAAUN, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, for his contributions to education and human capital development.
According to him, Professor Gwarzo’s investments in the education sector have continued to positively impact lives and deserve recognition and support.
In his remarks, the President of MAAUN, Professor Mohammad Israr, highlighted the university’s growth, academic achievements and commitment to quality education.
He appreciated Bayero University Kano for its support and mentorship over the years, describing the partnership as mutually beneficial and strategically important to the advancement of academic excellence.
Professor Israr noted that the collaboration would create more opportunities for research, innovation, capacity building and global academic exposure for staff and students of both institutions.
Dignitaries from MAAUN present at the event included the Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais; Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Ahmad Maigari Ibrahim; Director, Institute of Africa Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Professor Abubakar Sadiq; and Director, Human Resource Directorate, Hajiya Maimuna Bello.
Others were the Head of International Office, Engr. Bashir Garba; his assistant, Mrs. Janvi Haresh; Hayatuddeen M. Abdallah from the Corporate Communications Unit; and Baseerah Oyewo, Secretary to the President of the university.
