Troops Repel Terrorist Ambush in Adamawa, Lose Soldier
Troops of the Nigerian military have repelled an ambush by suspected terrorists along the Zarh–Mubang axis in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, security sources have disclosed.
The incident occurred at about 5:35 p.m. on May 20, when troops of the 232 Battalion (Tactical) responded to a distress call following reports of a terrorist attack on Zarh and Mubang communities in Hong LGA.

Sources said the troops did not encounter the attackers during the initial response operation. However, while returning along the Zarh–Mubang route, the troops came under heavy ambush from the suspected terrorists.
The soldiers reportedly engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle and successfully fought their way through the ambush, forcing the assailants to retreat.
During the encounter, one soldier was confirmed killed in action.
Military authorities have since intensified security operations in the area to track down the fleeing terrorists and forestall further attacks within the general area.
