Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have intensified offensive operations across the North-East, neutralising terrorists, rescuing abducted victims, recovering arms and explosives, and arresting suspected collaborators and criminal elements.
The military disclosed that the operations were carried out under Operation DESERT SANITY and related missions across several locations within the theatre of operation.
According to the Media Information Officer of OPHK, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) conducted coordinated offensives in Valle, Ashigashiya and Gakara general areas where they engaged suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters in a gun battle.
He said two insurgents were neutralised during the encounter, while others fled towards the Ngoshe axis following superior firepower from the troops. No casualty was recorded on the side of the military.
In a related operation along the Bravo Kilo 10 axis, troops intercepted suspected terrorists and killed one insurgent, recovering a radio set and a mobile phone from the scene.
The military also announced the rescue of an eight-year-old boy, Abubakar Mublagha, who was abducted during the March 3, 2026 attack on Ngoshe community.
The child was rescued during an offensive operation along the Ngoshe–Amuda corridor, medically examined and reunited with his family.
Similarly, troops operating around Uvaha village along the Gwoza–Limankara axis rescued a 20-year-old Fulani man, Dahiru Ahamdu, who escaped from terrorist captivity after artillery bombardments by troops reportedly hit insurgent camps in the Mandara Mountains.
