Military Neutralises Terrorists in Kaduna, Arrests Suspect, Recovers Arms in Kano
The Nigerian military has recorded fresh successes in its ongoing counter-terrorism operations, with troops neutralising several suspected terrorists in Kaduna State and arresting a suspected terrorist in neighbouring Kano State during separate intelligence-led operations.
Military sources disclosed that troops operating under Operation FANSAN YANMA carried out a precision air strike on a suspected terrorist hideout in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State on June 22, following credible intelligence on terrorist activities within the Kidandan axis.
According to the sources, an aerial surveillance platform was deployed for an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance mission, during which operatives tracked the movement of suspected terrorists across the area.
The surveillance team reportedly sighted four suspected terrorists riding motorcycles and placed them under continuous observation. Two additional motorcycles were later intercepted along a route believed to lead to a terrorist assembly point.
The tracked movement eventually led security forces to a suspected high-ground hideout within the operational area. After maintaining surveillance on the location, the air component conducted a precision strike on the target.

The operation resulted in the neutralisation of several suspected terrorists, while others reportedly fled the area in disarray. Preliminary Battle Damage Assessment indicated that the strike achieved its objective, although the exact number of casualties could not be independently confirmed.
Meanwhile, troops of the 3 Brigade Nigerian Army arrested a suspected terrorist during a raid operation in Konan Dumawa village, Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State.
Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 10:30 p.m. on June 21 following actionable intelligence reports on the suspect’s activities.
During the raid, troops apprehended the suspect and recovered a cache of weapons and other items, including a Dane gun, a locally fabricated pistol, a locally made revolver-type weapon, four cartridges, three knives, two mobile phones, two scissors, an identity card, a locally made charm and two ATM cards.
The suspect is currently in military custody and undergoing further investigation.
Military authorities said the operations form part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, prevent criminal infiltration and enhance security across affected communities in the North-West region.
They reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces to intelligence-driven air and ground operations aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities, denying criminal elements freedom of action and restoring lasting peace and security in vulnerable areas.
