OPHK Troops Intensify Security Patrols to Safeguard Farmers in Borno
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have intensified security operations across farming communities in Borno State, conducting fighting and clearance patrols in Bundur and surrounding villages in the Lake Chad region to enhance the safety of residents and support ongoing agricultural activities.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the patrol was led by the Acting Commander of the 19 Brigade, Col. E.O. Ikang, alongside troops of the brigade and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
The operation, carried out at about 12:30 p.m. on June 23, was designed to dominate the general area, reassure local communities and provide security for farmers cultivating their farmlands during the current farming season.

During the patrol, Col. Ikang engaged with farmers, urging them to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or terrorist activities to security agencies to enable swift operational response.
The brigade commander also distributed incentives to the farmers as a gesture of support and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustaining robust security measures to protect farming communities throughout the agricultural season.
The patrol concluded without incident, with troops returning safely to base after successfully clearing the area.
Military sources said the operation forms part of Operation Hadin Kai’s broader counter-insurgency strategy aimed at securing agricultural communities, strengthening civil-military cooperation and denying terrorists freedom of movement across the North-East.
The sustained patrols are expected to boost farmers’ confidence, encourage increased agricultural activities and contribute to improved food security in communities affected by years of insurgency.
