NAF Precision Strikes Eliminate Scores of Terrorists, Disrupt Planned Attacks in Niger
The Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA has recorded another major operational success after a series of intelligence-driven air interdiction missions neutralised scores of terrorists and disrupted their movement in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State.
The operations, carried out on June 29, 2026, followed credible intelligence indicating that more than 200 terrorists riding motorcycles were advancing along the Sangeko–Dogon Dawa–Womba axis. Intelligence reports suggested the group was moving to reinforce criminal enclaves within the Kamuku Forest corridor while planning coordinated attacks in the area.
Acting on the intelligence, the Air Component immediately deployed an Armed Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (AISR) mission to conduct extensive aerial surveillance over Womba, Dogon Dawa, Kurugin, Birnin Gwari, Polewaya and Udawa.

During the mission, aircrew positively identified three motorcycles conveying armed terrorists towards the Kamuku Forest. Following positive target identification and in strict compliance with the established Rules of Engagement, the aircraft engaged the targets with precision-guided munitions, successfully neutralising the terrorists.
A subsequent battle damage assessment, conducted in coordination with ground forces, confirmed the elimination of the hostile elements. Follow-on surveillance also indicated there were no further suspicious movements or emerging threats within the area of operation.
In a separate but related mission conducted later the same day, the aircraft carried out another armed reconnaissance over Dogon Dawa, Kurugin Maidawa and adjoining communities.
During the surveillance, several terrorists on motorcycles were observed converging at what was assessed to be a logistics and refuelling point, indicating preparations for further movement and possible offensive operations.
Recognising the site as a key terrorist logistics hub, the aircrew executed a carefully coordinated precision strike, destroying the gathering and neutralising a significant number of terrorists.
Military sources said the operations were executed with exceptional precision and professionalism, in full compliance with operational procedures.
