Troops Overrun Boko Haram Enclaves, Arrest Two Suspected Logistics Suppliers in Borno
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intensified counter-insurgency operations in Borno State, overrunning several Boko Haram enclaves in the Wulgo axis and arresting two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in separate intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling insurgent networks and disrupting their supply chains.
Security sources said the clearance operation was launched on July 4 by troops of the Headquarters, 24 Task Force Brigade, working alongside volunteer forces under the leadership of the Brigade Commander.
The combined force, comprising about 140 soldiers and 50 volunteer personnel, advanced from the Headquarters of the 3 Battalion (Motorised) with two Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, nine gun trucks, five Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) Toyota Hilux vehicles and 10 motorcycles to clear terrorist enclaves at Wulgo, Hausari, Danbaure and Jegarawaji.
During the advance into Wulgo, the troops encountered Boko Haram fighters, who engaged the advancing force before being overwhelmed by superior firepower.
The insurgents retreated in disarray, abandoning a sack containing suspected illicit drugs as they fled. Troops pursued the terrorists along their withdrawal routes but discontinued the chase because of difficult terrain.
The operation continued to Hausari and Danbaure, where the terrorists had already fled, leaving their camps deserted. Troops subsequently destroyed several life-support structures and other facilities used by the insurgents to deny them future operational use.

On reaching Jegarawaji, the troops encountered no resistance. However, military reconnaissance revealed that access routes to Garal and Manawaji were heavily marshy and impassable. Consequently, troops conducted indirect fire missions against suspected terrorist hideouts in both locations.
The operation was completed successfully without casualties, and all personnel returned safely to base.
In a separate operation on July 5, troops of the 149 Battalion (Motorised) intercepted and arrested two suspected Boko Haram logistics suppliers during a strangulation operation designed to cut off supplies to terrorist enclaves.
The suspects, identified as Guni Bukar Fantimi, 25, from Arari Village in Mobbar Local Government Area, and Zanna Mohammed, 18, from Musari Village in Maiduguri, were apprehended while travelling in a Golf vehicle with registration number BORNO NGL-904BK.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a large consignment of materials believed to be intended for insurgent camps. The items included cartons of air pumps, glass cups, paint, roofing nails, spray paint, instant glue, zinc adhesive, rolls of white tape, hand saws, 20 cutlasses, bundles of rope, rain boots, footwear, bags of nails, four solar-powered fans, one solar panel, 20 bundles of roofing zinc sheets, two mobile phones and ₦47,650 in cash.
Military authorities said the suspects and the recovered exhibits are in custody and are undergoing further investigation to determine the intended recipients of the materials and establish possible links to Boko Haram’s logistics network.
The military described both operations as part of sustained intelligence-led efforts under Operation HADIN KAI to dismantle terrorist enclaves, disrupt logistics networks and deny insurgents freedom of movement across the North-East theatre.
Security sources added that although the overall security situation in the theatre remains relatively calm, troops have maintained a high level of vigilance and operational readiness to counter any emerging threats.
