Defence Ministry Debunks Rumours of Musa’s Resignation
The Federal Ministry of Defence has dismissed as false reports circulating on social and online media alleging that the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), intends to resign from office.
In a public disclaimer issued on Monday, the ministry described the claims as “malicious” and “entirely fabricated,” stressing that the reports were designed to mislead the public.
The ministry stated that the Minister remains fully committed to his responsibilities and continues to focus on advancing Nigeria’s national security agenda.

According to the statement, General Musa is “fully focused on his national security mandate, deeply committed to his duties, and completely dedicated to piloting the nation’s defence strategy, with results already being seen.”
The ministry urged members of the public to disregard the rumour, describing it as fake news without any factual basis.
It also called on media organisations, bloggers and social media users to verify information before publication and seek clarification from the Office of the Minister to prevent the spread of misinformation.
The statement was signed by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Honourable Minister of Defence, Leah Katung-Babatunde.
