Kwara 2027: ADC Guber Candidate Names Retired Educationist as Running Mate
The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kwara State, Rt. Hon. Zakari Mohammed, has unveiled Elder Olawuyi Julius Olayide, a retired teacher and school administrator, as his running mate for the forthcoming governorship election.
Announcing the choice on his official Facebook page on Monday, Zakari introduced the deputy governorship candidate as a seasoned educationist from Offa in Offa Local Government Area of the state.
“I have the pleasure to present my running mate, Elder Julius Olaide Olawuyi, a retired teacher and school Administrator from Offa town, in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State. ADC, Arise and Shine Nigeria,” he wrote.
Elder Olawuyi, born on January 20, 1960, in Offa, is a veteran educationist with more than three decades of experience in teaching and school administration. He is married with children and is widely recognised for his contributions to education, community development and grassroots leadership.

He obtained a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in Economics/Social Studies from the College of Education, Oro, in 1984 before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A.Ed.) in Social Studies from the University of Ilorin in 1991.
His teaching career, which spanned over 34 years, saw him serve in several secondary schools in Offa, including Ansar-Ud-Deen College from 1986 to 2005, Offa Community Secondary School between 2005 and 2006, and Nawar-Ud-Deen College from 2006 to 2011.
He later became Vice Principal of Moremi High School, Offa, where he served from 2011 until his retirement on January 20, 2020, mentoring generations of students and providing administrative leadership.
The ADC described Elder Olawuyi as a man of integrity, humility and wisdom whose extensive experience in education and administration would strengthen the party’s governorship ticket.
According to the party, the Zakari Mohammed–Olawuyi ticket is committed to providing people-centred leadership aimed at revitalising the education sector, empowering youths and women, strengthening the state’s economy and promoting sustainable development across Kwara State.
The unveiling marks a significant step in the ADC’s preparations for the governorship race as the party seeks to present an alternative leadership agenda to the people of Kwara State.
