Army Destroys IEDs, Arrest Two Suspected Informants in Borno
Troops of the Nigerian Army have recorded operational successes in Borno State, destroying two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along the Gwoza–Wala Road and arresting two suspected terrorist informants at Askira Uba Market.
Security sources disclosed that troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison discovered the two IEDs at about 8:50 a.m. on August 2 during routine operations between the Golf Bravo and Papa 2 locations along the Gwoza–Wala Road.
The troops immediately secured the area and deployed an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team to neutralise the threat.
The EOD specialists subsequently recovered and carried out controlled in-situ detonations of the devices, successfully eliminating the threat without casualties or damage to property.

In a related operation, troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion arrested two suspected terrorist informants at Askira Uba Market in Askira Uba Local Government Area.
The suspects were apprehended at about 3:10 p.m. on August 1 following intelligence-led surveillance conducted by troops operating in the area.
Security sources said preliminary findings indicate that the suspects were allegedly providing information to terrorist elements operating within the region.
The suspects were subsequently handed over to the Headquarters of the 28 Task Force Brigade for further investigation and necessary legal action.
The latest operations highlight ongoing efforts by the military to disrupt terrorist activities and dismantle the support networks facilitating insurgent operations across Borno State.
Military sources said route-clearance and sanitisation operations remain ongoing across the North-East to prevent terrorists from emplacing explosive devices along major supply routes, while intelligence-led operations continue to identify and apprehend suspected informants and collaborators.
