NAF Airstrikes Disrupt Terrorist Activity in Zamfara
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has sustained intelligence-led air operations in Zamfara State, disrupting the activities of suspected terrorists around the Bayarzaki River area.
The operation, conducted on August 12, 2026, followed credible intelligence indicating the movement of suspected terrorists in the area.
According to the NAF, an A-Jet was deployed on an armed reconnaissance mission and conducted extensive surveillance over Bayarzaki and surrounding locations, including Ruwan Rana, Sabli, Kada Daba, Kwana Maje, Nasarawa, Rafin Gero, Ramfashi and Mumuma Hill.
Further intelligence indicated the presence of suspected terrorists concealed south of the riverline, prompting the aircraft to engage the identified location from the air.
The NAF said no further movement was observed following the engagement, as the aircraft maintained an aerial presence over the area before safely returning to base.

The operation, according to the service, reflects its intelligence-driven approach to counter-terrorism operations, involving the detection, assessment and engagement of emerging threats, followed by sustained aerial surveillance.
It said the success of such missions depended on coordinated efforts involving intelligence personnel, aircrew, mission planners, engineers, logistics personnel and other specialists who translate actionable intelligence into timely air responses.
The NAF added that persistent surveillance and decisive air operations were aimed at denying terrorists and other criminal elements the freedom to operate, while providing air support to ground forces conducting security operations.
The service reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining day-and-night operations against terrorist and criminal elements, particularly in communities affected by insecurity.
It said its personnel would continue working alongside other security agencies to protect lives, secure communities and create conditions conducive to peace and development across the country.
