NAF, Innoson Explore Partnership on Aircraft Spares, Defence Technology
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is exploring a strategic partnership with Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) to strengthen indigenous capacity in aircraft spares production, technology transfer and specialised technical training.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, disclosed this on Tuesday when the Chairman of IVM, Chief Dr Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma, CON, paid a courtesy visit to him at the NAF Headquarters in Abuja.
Discussions between the two sides centred on leveraging IVM’s local manufacturing capabilities to support NAF operational requirements and expand local content in Nigeria’s defence industry.

Chukwuma highlighted IVM’s interest and capacity to produce selected aircraft parts and spares, while also presenting the company’s capabilities in compressed natural gas (CNG) and electric vehicle manufacturing.
Aneke welcomed the initiative, saying the NAF was prepared to explore partnerships capable of promoting local production, technology transfer and human-capacity development.
The CAS also expressed interest in exploring affordable vehicle acquisition options for NAF personnel through convenient payment arrangements, subject to further discussions and applicable procedures.
The engagement reflects the NAF leadership’s efforts to harness indigenous manufacturing, innovation and technical expertise to enhance operational capability and personnel welfare.
It also aligns with Nigeria’s broader drive to deepen local content, reduce dependence on imported defence-related equipment and promote technological self-reliance and industrial development.
