Troops Kill B’Haram Fighter, Capture Another in Geidam
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 159 Battalion, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have neutralised a Boko Haram Terrorist (BHT) fighter and captured another during an operation in Abakuradi Village, Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was conducted at about 12:05 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026, following credible intelligence on the movement of suspected Boko Haram elements in the area.
Acting on the intelligence, the troops swiftly mobilised to the location and engaged the terrorists after making contact with the group.

During the ensuing encounter, one BHT fighter was neutralised, while another was apprehended alive. Several other terrorists reportedly fled the area, some sustaining gunshot wounds during the engagement.
The troops subsequently recovered one AK-47 rifle and a magazine from the fleeing terrorists.
The captured suspect has been taken into custody for further investigation, while troops are continuing operations to track down the wounded and fleeing members of the group.
The operation underscores ongoing efforts by security forces and local security partners to disrupt terrorist activities and deny insurgents freedom of movement in communities across Yobe State.
