IMPR Board Chairman, Dr. Sule Yau Authors Book on ‘Strategic Communication’, Dec 7 for Launching

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Image Merchants Promotion, IMPR, Limited, publishers of PRNigeria, Economic Confidential and Spokespersons Digest; Dr Sule Ya’u Sule, will launch his new book on ‘strategic communication’ on Saturday, December 7, 2023.

The book, titled: “An Introduction to Strategic Communication,” will be unveiled to the general public at the NICON Luxury Hotel, in Area 11, Abuja.

Explaining to PRNigeria what his brand-new book is all about, Dr. Ya’u Sule, who also is a Senior Lecturer at the Mass Communication Department of Bayero University, Kano, BUK, noted that the art of communication, especially in our contemporary times, goes beyond issuing press releases and granting interviews.

“One has to look, think and come up with a strategic way of passing a specific message, at a specific time, and through a specific channel. So our communication now, especially in the era of social media, must be strategic.

“You must think of which form of communication is better used for a specific message. So, these are some of the things that actually pushed me to come up with something, at least that will guide information managers. So that we can have alternative ways of accurately passing our information, especially those of us that are in the field of public relations,” he said.

On what set his book apart from other available literary works on strategic communication, the IMPR Board of Directors Chairman, explained that his yet-to-be unveiled book contains empirical examples of campaign rhetoric and coinages used in Nigeria’s political evolution.

He said: “In the book, we captured some of the gimmicks and strategic communications used in both the 2019 and 2023 elections. I am talking of the Emilokan and Otoge catchphrases, that were shaped by strategic communication, and which will certainly assist PR practitioners in marshaling out some of their communication strategies”.

Dr. Ya’u Sule, further maintained that his new book will give PR experts, researchers and students a clear understanding and perspective on what strategic communication is all about, urging those in the business of information management to come up with something (publish books) based on their experiences in order to guide and mentor upcoming PR professionals, communicators and information managers.

The book presentation will be held in the morning while the annual Spokespersons Communication Awards (SCA) as well as Security and Emergency Management Awards (SAEMA) will be hosted in the same venue in the afternoon.
