Panel Frees 368 Prison Inmates in Kano
During their second visit to the state, the stakeholders Committee on Prison Reform and Prison Decongestion have facilitated the release of 368 prisoners in Kano state.
The Committee was Inaugurated by the Federal Executive Council on the 31st october 2017. The released inmates included both sexes, male and female with age bracket between 19 and 65 Years who were mostly less previledged that were unable to pay required legal fines for the offences.

Others benefiaries of the scheme included inmates that have been remanded for more than 5 years in prisons. His Excellency the Kano State Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said about N16million was spent for the exercise.
The Chairman of the Committee Commended the Kano state Goverment for the gestures. Addressing the prisoners that were freed, the Chairman urged the inmates to use the opportunity of their freedom to engage in legitimate activities.
Also speaking at the occasion, the state Controller of Prisons, Magaji A. Abdullahi commended the Federal and State Goverments for the continúes support and concerns to Nigerian Prisons.
