Sultan Hails Dangote’s N10 million Donation for Mosque Completion
The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar lll, has said that the contributions of Aliko Dangote in the development of Islam in Nigeria, and the African continent is sadaqatul jariyah that will earn him lofty heights in Paradise.
He was commissioning the FOMWAN Jummat Mosque in Utako, FCT, Abuja for which Dangote Foundation contributed N10m towards its successful completion.
Dangote said a Jummat Mosque plays important role in the lives of Muslims in enhancing Daawah activities, recitation of the Qur’an, conducting congregational prayers and promoting Islamic values.
The Sultan said Aliko Dangote has practically demonstrated his magnanimity, and commended initiative of the Muslim mothers and daughters of Islam who saw the need for a befitting Mosque to enable the Muslim community, both men and women in Utako undertake Friday congregational prayer in the Mosque which is just a stone-throw from their business locations.
“We are happy that Mothers have joined the bandwagon for the development of Islam in general, therefore your actions must reflect the teachings of Islam for the benefit of the Muslim ummah. The Sultan said, to FOMWAN.
Represented by the Emir of Keffi, Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa the Sultan said wealthy Muslims should emulate Aliko Dangote in uplifting Islam and easing difficulties faced by the Muslim ummah in worshipping their creator.
Conceived in 1985 as a Non -Governmental, Faith based organisation and umbrella body for Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria, the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria creates awareness among Muslim women on the teachings of Islam, improves the morale of women, their education and also facilitate their economic empowerment.
It has also rehabilitated street children, orphans, refugee children and developed the youth while influencing and effecting positive changes in policies and issues that affect them.

In his Goodwill message, representative of Dangote Group, Engr. Mansur Ahmed said the President Dangote Foundation, congratulates FOMWAN for the epoch event and encourages them to do more in propagating Islam according to the teachings of the Holy Prophet, SAW.
The National Amirah of FOMWAN, Hajiya Halima Jibril said Aliko’s provision of N10m for the completion of the project is divine intervention, and dream come through for Muslim women across the country and their affiliates in West Africa- Ghana, Sierra-leone, Liberia, the Gambia, Mauritious, the republic of Niger and recently, London and Ireland where the FOMWAN have branches.
She said prayers were being offered for Dangote, the Sultan and others who contributed to the project for Allah to reward them immensely, for making the dream a reality.
Amirah Halima disclosed that FOMWAN gets funding from membership dues, sales of publications, donations, Zakkat and grants from donor agencies for its activities but a lot still needs to be done.
“Some concerned Muslims constributed to the project which started 5 years ago but the construction stopped at a point due to pausity of funds then Allah brought in Dangote who promised to complete it, and he kept his words”.
“The magnificent edifice showcases an eatry, administrative block, hostel and offices for women’s Daawah training”.
She indicated that Dangote’s Sadaqatul Jariyah will help alliviate problems of abandoned children, educate more children, help children with special needs, and improve welfare of widows across the country.
The Amirah called on other wealthy Muslims to contribute to the maintenance of the new Jummat Mosque, help with building of the Imam’s house and landscaping of the vicinity.
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki represented by Senator Sani Ahmed Yariman Bakura, donated N2m towards the Mosque’s progress. Imam of the Day, and Secretary JNI, Mallam Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, led the Muslim faithful in the conduct of the Friday prayer
