Nigerian Navy’s Operation Delta Sanity Boosts Oil Production by 319,000 bpd in Six Months – CNS Ogalla

The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, said on Friday that the Nigerian Navy’s Operation Delta Sanity has led to a significant rise in crude oil production within the last six months.

The CNS made the remarks during the Nigerian Navy Regimental Dinner Night, in honored of retired flag rank officers, in Abuja.

Citing figures from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Ogalla reported a 319,000 barrel per day increase in crude oil production from July 2023 to January 2024, reaching 1.427 million barrels per day.

He attributed this rise directly to the operation’s success in dismantling illegal oil refining sites in the Niger Delta region

This, in turn, according to him, has led to a significant increase in legitimate oil production, contributing more effectively to national development.

His word, “Let me seize this opportunity to reassure you that under my watch, the Nigerian Navy will remain professional and ethical in fulfilment of national security objectives. It might interest you to know that the Nigerian Navy has recorded some modest achievements since I assumed Command.

“These achievements include acquisition of additional air and maritime assets, improved personnel welfare through construction of barracks accommodation as well as providing educational and medical sponsorship to personnel.”

While acknowledging the progress, Ogalla emphasized the Navy’s continued commitment to further improve the situation. He stressed the importance of collaboration with all stakeholders, including sister agencies, security services, and partners, to ensure lasting success.

He continued: “I wish to thank His Excellency, the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Grand Commander of the Federal Republic for his continuous support to the Nigerian Navy and the welfare of our veterans.”

He further extended his appreciation to spouses of personnel, whose dedication at home contributes significantly to the Navy’s success.

Ogalla commended  the distinguished retirees for their enduring legacy and reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to working towards a better Nigeria for all.

On his part, the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, applauded the service of retired flag rank officers and expressing continued support for the Navy.

He said: “I am delighted to be here amongst you tonight. Indeed, you are heroes. You have made the country proud. This event is indeed an occasion to commemorate the service of our retired senior officers. It allows us to reflect on your extraordinary service demonstrated throughout your illustrious careers.

“I am convinced that the principles, honor, service, and experience you gathered during your service will carry forward with you into retirement. The discipline you have displayed and your loyalty to your country will provide a strong foundation for your future endeavors.”

“Before your retirement, you devoted yourselves to protecting our dear nation in the maritime environment, which has often been volatile and complex. Your selfless service has left an indelible mark on the Nigerian Navy, the Armed Forces, and the nation as a whole. I would also like to commend your colleagues who lost their lives during operations while protecting our country. We pray for their families and spouses, and we ask God Almighty to provide for them.

“We assure you that we will continue to support your leadership in the Nigerian Navy, particularly during this period when the country needs bespoke strategies to protect the nation. I urge your spouses to continue their unwavering support even after your retirement.”

“Finally, I want to commend the officers and ratings of the Nigerian Navy for their efforts in curbing crude oil theft”, he said.
