Army Assesses Combat Readiness of Divisions
The Chief of Army Standard and Evaluation (CASE) Maj Gen AO Shodunke, on the instruction of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen TY Buratai has embarked on a working visit to Headquarters 82 Division and other Units, Formations and Nigerian Army institutions in the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The CASE and his team arrived Headquarters 82 Division Enugu by 0900 hours on Tuesday the 13th February 2018.
The visit is to monitor, assess/evaluate the combat readiness and effectiveness of formations, units and Nigerian Army institutions in the Division as well as observed constraints with the view to making recommendations for enhanced productivity and professionalism in the Division and the Nigerian Army at large.
In his remarks at the occasion, Gen Shodunke stated that “Iam here with my team on the instruction of the COAS to monitor, evaluate and assess the capability, combat readiness and effectiveness of the units, formations and Nigerian Army institutions in the DivIsion Area of Responsibility and their adherence to laid down standards”.
He used the opportunity to reiterate the vision of the COAS which is to have a professionally Responsive Nigerian Army in the Discharge of its Constitutional Roles.
Instructively, the COAS vision is in line with the Nigerian Army Mission Statement which is “To win all land battles in defence of the territorial integrity of Nigeria, protect her national interests and accomplish other tasks in aid of civil authority”.
He enjoined the Division to continue to adhere strictly to laid down standards, ethics and traditions of the Nigerian Army so as to fully actualize the mission statement of the NA and the vision of the COAS at all times.
The Chief of Staff 82 Division, Brig Gen LKN Udeagbala, on behalf of the General Officer Commanding the Division Maj Gen AB Abubakar, presented the Division’s brief to the CASE.
Highlights of the event was an elaborate question and answer session as well as contributions and observations made by the various Commanders, Deputy Directors and Principal Staff Officers of the Division that graced the occasion.
