NIPR Membership Soars to 7,653, with 215 Fellows and 6,513 Associates

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the premier professional body for public relations practitioners in Nigeria, has released its latest membership figures, which show significant growth in the community of PR professionals committed to ethical practice and continuous professional development.

According to the official NIPR register, the current membership distribution confirms 215 Fellows, 25 Honorary Fellows, 649 Full Members, 6,513 Associate Members, 218 Graduate Members, and 33 Corporate Members.

In his Foreword, the President of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, stated that the register served as a baseline and would undergo review and publication annually. At the same time, the online data of practitioners would be constantly updated on the website.

“This register of members provides proof of the many skills, body of knowledge, and commitments of our distinguished members. Its pages contain an eclectic mix of experts from many industries, all bringing their insights and expertise to the public relations domain,” Neliaku said.

The Spokespersons Digest, a publication of PRNigeria, observes that the Register contains the Nigeria Official Gazette on the Law establishing the institute, the List of members in different membership categories, and the Circular on Redesignation of Information Officers Cadre to Information and Public Relations Cadre.

The register also contains the NIPR Code of Professional Conduct by-law, the Creation and Administration of NIPR Chapters Bye-Law, the Public Relations Consultancy Practice Bye-Law, State Chapter Chairmen/Contacts, and International Affiliation.

The Spokespersons Digest notes that the growth reflects the NIPR’s dedication to advancing the profession’s standards and fostering its members’ advancement through various initiatives and programmes.

The NIPR was established in 1963 to regulate and promote the practice of public relations in Nigeria. The institute is chartered by Decree 16 of June 1990 (now an Act of the National Assembly). It is responsible for setting standards, providing training and development opportunities, and ensuring ethical conduct among its members.
