Bauchi CJ Releases 20 Prison Inmates
The Bauchi State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi T.Umar has released a total of 20 inmates during her 2018 first and second quarter visit to prisons across the State.
The visit which took the State Chief Judge and members of the Administration of Criminal justice committee to Misau, Zaki, Azare, Jama’are and Ningi Prisons yesterday, was concluded today at Bauchi Prison with the release of Awaiting trial inmates totalling twenty.
The Chief Judge expressed concern on the lack of proper record of cases for some of the inmates and the delay in obtaining legal advise from the State Ministry for Justice thereby causing unnecessary overstay of inmates in the prison. She called on the agencies concerned to make necessary amends with a view to addressing congestion in the prison.
Rabi T. Umar Commended the State Government for its support towards the success of the exercise.
Also speaking, the Controller of Prisons Bauchi State Command, CP Suleiman T Suleiman, commended the Chief Judge for the visit and urged the released inmates to be of good behavior and shun away crime.
