Security: COAS Receives African Leadership Award
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has been conferred with the prestigious African prize for transparency, selfless service and accountability in Leadership in Accra, Ghana by the Lead Times Magazine in collaboration with the Western Ville University, San Diego, California, United States of America.
The COAS who was represented by the General Officer Commanding(GOC) 81 Division, Major General Enobong Udoh was commended for his selfless leadership role in the Nigerian Army, particularly in tackling the insurgency in the lake Chad basin region as well as other parts of the country.

It was also noted that General Buratai has been globally recognized for his contributions and leadership role in crushing Boko Haram insurgents and maintaining peace and security within the West African region.
In his response, the COAS thanked the organizers for the honour done him and affirmed his determination to completely rout out the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists in all parts of the country. He further stated that this landmark recognition has indeed confirmed and re-energized the Nigerian Army’s role as Africa’s finest military might, upholding global standards in warfare and civil military relations.
The Leadership award brought together African leaders who distinguished themselves in their various endeavors.
The representative of the COAS, was also accompanied during the ceremony by two senior officers, Brigadier General AO Alabi and Colonel SO Oloyede of the Department of Civil Military Affairs, Army Headquarters.
