Civil Servants Urged  to Support FG’s  Policy for Development  

The Honourable Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Prof. Claudius Omoleye Daramola has called for the cooperation of all career civil servants for the Federal Government to achieve its goals.

Prof. Daramola gave this charge when the Head of the  Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita led a team of Permanent Secretaries to the Minister’s office on Monday.The Head of Service-led team was on Peer Reveiw Mechanism visit to the  Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.

The Minister noted that the advice of the Civil servants were required to enable people in authority to carry out policies that will benefit Nigerians.

He thanked the Head of Service for posting the new Permanent Secretary, Aminu Aliyu Bisalla to the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, who he described as “Experienced and Stable-minded,” saying the coming of the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry has stabilised the Ministry despite its daunting challenges.

Earlier, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita described the team’s visit to the Ministry as ” Very encouraging, strong and effective.” She added that the team was able to interact with all stakeholders in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs to get first-hand information on the progress the Ministry has recorded over the years and the challenges it is facing, in a bid to find ways of overcoming the challenges.

She added that the essence of the Peer Review Mechanism was to enable Permanent Secretaries in the various Ministries, together with the Head of the Civil Service to interact on their mandates, levels of budget implementation, responses to the Executive Orders and the efforts they are making to achieve  the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) of the Federal Government.

In his remarks at the Peer Review, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs,  Aminu Aliyu Bisalla revealed that the Ministry had recorded a lot in delivering on its mandate as well as building synergy among various stakeholders in addressing the development challenges of the Niger Delta region.
