New Appointments Announced by IGP Ramping Up Internal Security Efforts
Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has announced the immediate appointment of new Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to spearhead Zonal Commands in Nigeria, alongside a new AIG for the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos.
In a bid to enhance internal security and ensure adherence to professional conduct, IGP Egbetokun revealed that AIG Suleiman M. Yusuf will now lead Zone 9 in Umuahia, AIG Ahmed Ammani will oversee Zone 1 in Kano, and AIG Zachariah Fera will take charge of Zone 4 in Makurdi. Additionally, AIG Augustina N. Ogbodo has been appointed to head the FCID Annex at Alagbon, Lagos.

These changes coincide with the retirement of several senior AIGs and the recent promotion of DIG Ari Muhammed Ali, who has transitioned from Zone 1 to serve as the Deputy Inspector-General of Operations at Force Headquarters in Abuja.
In his directive, the IGP called for resolute oversight and commitment from the newly appointed officers as they undertake their roles. He urged them to engage fully with police reform initiatives aimed at fostering ethical practices and enhancing professional integrity within the Nigeria Police Force.
The IGP emphasized that addressing misconduct is paramount for the advancement of the police force and reiterated the necessity for officers to uphold an unwavering standard of professionalism in their duties.
This overhaul of leadership comes as part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen the operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force and safeguard the nation.
The announcement was made through the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, at Force Headquarters in Abuja on December 6, 2024.
