Former Nigerian Minister Femi Fani-Kayode Condemns Trump’s Stance on Gaza in Open Letter

Former Nigerian Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has issued a scathing open letter to U.S. President Donald Trump, accusing him of supporting genocide, ethnic cleansing, and mass murder in Gaza through America’s continued military and political backing of Israel.

In the strongly worded letter, Fani-Kayode condemned the U.S. administration’s role in supplying Israel with advanced weaponry, including 2,000-pound bombs, which he claimed have devastated Palestinian civilians, particularly women and children. He described the destruction of Gaza as the “most barbaric slaughter in modern history,” characterizing it as a humanitarian disaster caused by U.S. intervention.

Criticism of Trump’s Plans for Gaza

The former minister also took aim at Trump’s reported plans to displace the remaining 1.6 million Gazans and develop the region into a “prime piece of real estate” and a “holiday resort” for wealthy Americans. He condemned this proposition as an “expression of unadulterated evil”, arguing that it mirrored historical acts of land dispossession and colonization, likening it to the treatment of Native Americans, Genghis Khan’s conquests, and Adolf Hitler’s expansionist policies.

Fani-Kayode also questioned Trump’s morality and empathy, criticizing his failure to acknowledge the suffering of Palestinian families and his dismissal of international condemnation. He pointed out that 149 countries, including Nigeria, officially recognize Palestine as an independent nation, reinforcing the need for a two-state solution rather than an American takeover of Gaza.

Praise for Nigeria’s Position on Palestine

The letter highlighted Nigeria’s stance at the United Nations General Assembly, where Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized Palestinians’ right to independence. Fani-Kayode expressed pride in Nigeria’s commitment to justice and peace, contrasting it with what he described as America’s imperialistic ambitions.

Accusations of Racism and Anti-Immigrant Policies

Beyond Gaza, Fani-Kayode criticized Trump’s broader foreign policy, particularly his anti-immigration stance. He accused the U.S. president of discriminating against immigrants while benefiting from America’s immigration policies himself. He cited Trump’s German, Scottish, Slovenian, and Czech family ties as an example of hypocrisy.

Fani-Kayode also called out Trump’s preference for white South African refugees over immigrants from other regions, labeling it a reflection of his inherent racism. He further condemned Trump’s rhetoric against migrants, which he argued dehumanizes them and contradicts core Christian values.

A Final Warning

The letter concluded with a warning to Trump, reminding him that it was the prayers of millions that protected him from assassination attempts and legal troubles. Fani-Kayode urged the U.S. president to change course before divine retribution catches up with him.

This open letter adds to the growing international criticism of Trump’s Middle East policies and underscores Nigeria’s position on the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
