Lagos Police Arrest Chinese National Over Fake Diplomatic Plate as Security Forces Rescue Israeli Expatriate in Taraba
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old Chinese national, Lei Lu, for allegedly using a fake British Embassy diplomatic number plate at the American Embassy in Victoria Island, PRNigeria learnt.
The arrest followed a report by a vigilant citizen at 12:17 p.m., who noticed the suspect driving a vehicle with the fraudulent plate (138-CD-46) earlier at 11:00 a.m.. Upon investigation, Lu failed to present valid documentation authorizing the use of the diplomatic plate.

According to Zagazola, police documented the evidence, including photographs, and have launched further investigations to determine his motives and any potential security risks.
In a separate development, an Israeli expatriate, Gil Itamar, an employee of SCC Company, was rescued in Taraba State after being abducted by six armed men dressed in military uniforms on April 3, 2025.
The kidnappers, who operated on motorcycles, seized Itamar along the Takum/Chanchangi Road. A joint operation involving military personnel and local hunters successfully tracked and freed him at Kofai Ahmadu by 11:50 p.m. the same day.
During his captivity, Itamar sustained a head injury, but he is now in stable condition and receiving medical care at SCC Company’s medical facility. Authorities plan to debrief him after recovery to aid in tracking down the kidnappers.
