DICON Strengthens Partnership with D7G to Boost Local Defence Production

In a strategic push towards achieving Nigeria’s Military Industrial Complex vision, the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) has reaffirmed its partnership with D7G Company Limited to revamp local production of military hardware.

This was disclosed by Spokesperson of DICON, Lt Colonel Haruna Mohammed Sani in a statement.

This commitment was reinforced during a courtesy visit by the D7G team to DICON Headquarters in Kaduna, where the Director General of DICON, Major General Babatunde Ibrahim Alaya, emphasized the importance of the collaboration.

“D7G remains a highly reputable and reliable partner that can drive DICON towards actualizing its dream of becoming the hub of Nigeria’s Military Industrial Complex,” General Alaya stated.

General Alaya disclosed that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to enhance the local production of arms, ammunition, and other military hardware. He noted that the partnership would not only promote self-sufficiency but also reduce Nigeria’s reliance on foreign imports for defence needs.

“It could be recalled that the DICON-D7G Board was recently convened to boost local production. My vision is to consolidate this collaborative effort as quickly as possible,” he added.

Speaking during the visit, the Chief Executive Officer of D7G, Mr. Osman Chennar, assured stakeholders of the company’s readiness to revitalize production activities at DICON.

“The DICON-D7G partnership will herald a new era for Nigeria in the local production of military hardware,” Mr. Chennar said.

He commended DICON’s existing production facilities and skilled workforce, expressing confidence that the collaboration would enhance capacity development among staff and significantly boost revenue generation for the country.

The visit featured a guided tour of the DICON Ordnance Factory, where the guests were shown the corporation’s production processes and capabilities. The event also included an exchange of souvenirs between both organisations, symbolising the renewed commitment to mutual cooperation.

The partnership between DICON and D7G is seen as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s efforts to develop a sustainable military-industrial base, aligning with the Federal Government’s broader objective of achieving self-reliance in defence production.
