Nigerian Military Eliminates Top Boko Haram Commander Abu Fatima in Borno
In a decisive breakthrough in the fight against terrorism, Special Forces under Operation HADIN KAI have neutralized a top Boko Haram/ISWAP commander, Amir Abu Fatima, during a precision military operation in the Kukawa axis of Northern Borno State.
According to a statement posted on the Nigerian Army’s official Facebook page, the operation took place on Thursday, May 30, 2025, and was based on credible intelligence targeting the terrorist kingpin and his loyalists.

Abu Fatima, a high-value target with a ₦100 million bounty on his head, was fatally wounded during an intense firefight with the troops. His deputy, several bomb-making experts, and other terrorist fighters were also eliminated during the encounter.
The troops recovered several weapons and items used in terror activities, including AK-47 rifles, magazines, assorted ordnance, and improvised explosive device (IED) manufacturing materials.
Notably, the operation was executed without any casualties among Nigerian forces.
The Nigerian Army described the successful mission as a major blow to the leadership structure of Boko Haram and ISWAP factions in the Lake Chad region. It further reaffirmed the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security in the North East.
