NAF Bombards Terrorists’ Training Camp in Lake Chad, Neutralizes Dozens Fighters

In a continued display of precision and resolve, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched a decisive airstrike on a key terrorist training camp in the Lake Chad region, neutralising several insurgents and destroying critical weapons and logistics infrastructure.

The air interdiction mission, carried out on 9 June 2025 under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), specifically targeted a notorious enclave in Bukar Meram, located on the southern flank of the Lake Chad basin in Borno State.

According to military sources, the area served as both a training ground and operational hub for insurgents planning coordinated attacks on nearby communities.

“Following credible intelligence, our air assets conducted a precision strike that led to the destruction of enemy logistics, including supply trucks, arms depots, and makeshift shelters,” Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters confirmed this in a statement.

.“The operation disrupted imminent threats to the towns of Marte and Monguno, which were in the terrorists’ line of advance.”

Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) confirmed the successful neutralisation of several fighters and the destruction of key infrastructure within the enclave.

Surveillance footage reportedly showed secondary explosions, indicating the presence of stored ammunition and fuel stockpiles at the site.

Military analysts say the strike is a major setback for insurgent forces operating around the Lake Chad area, where the borders of Nigeria, Niger, Chad, and Cameroon converge.

PRNigeria reports that Bukar Meram has long been a strategic location used by various terror factions for cross-border movements, recruitment, and logistics coordination.

The latest strike underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s increasingly proactive posture in counterterrorism operations in the Northeast.

In recent months, NAF has intensified aerial campaigns aimed at dismantling the operational capabilities of terrorist groups across the region.

“Our resolve remains firm. We are committed to degrading all threats to our national security and safeguarding the lives of innocent Nigerians,” Air Commodore Ejodame stated.

The operation comes amid wider efforts by the Nigerian military to reclaim and secure remote territories from insurgent control, as well as prevent the regrouping of terror cells. Security experts believe that sustained air power, supported by ground intelligence and joint operations, is crucial to winning the asymmetric war.

The military urged citizens to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing actionable intelligence.
