Renewed Hope Network Hails Keyamo’s ‘Superlative’ Aviation Reforms

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors Network has lauded the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, for what it described as a “superlative performance” in transforming Nigeria’s aviation sector within two years of his appointment.

In a mid-term assessment signed by its President, Opialu Fabian Opialu, the group said Keyamo had exceeded expectations by demonstrating how purposeful leadership can drive economic reform and restore national pride.

According to the statement, Keyamo’s reforms have boosted investor confidence, improved aviation safety, and generated jobs—aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The aviation sector has moved from doubt to direction under Keyamo’s leadership,” Opialu stated. “Through deliberate, data-backed reforms, Nigeria has regained global recognition in aviation compliance, safety, and capacity. His performance is not just commendable—it is superlative.”

The group highlighted policy achievements such as the implementation of the Irrevocable Deregistration and Export Request Authorisation (IDERA) framework, which raised Nigeria’s Cape Town Convention compliance from 70.5% to 75.5%, pushing the country into the high-compliance category and restoring international trust.

Other notable reforms include enhanced local content policies like the Fly Nigeria Act, localization of in-flight catering, and improvements in airport efficiency, notably through the deployment of e-gates at Murtala Muhammed International Airport and the upgrade of regional airports, including the Muhammadu Buhari Airport in Maiduguri.

“These are visible changes that impact both passengers and local economies. They reflect what true democratic dividends look like,” the statement noted.

The group also commended Keyamo’s success in international diplomacy, including resolving the aviation dispute with the United Arab Emirates and securing new bilateral routes with Italy and Algeria.

It praised his efforts to instill a safety-first culture through executive training collaborations with institutions like Boeing’s Global Learning Institute and Cranfield University—initiatives linked to a measurable decline in aviation incidents.

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors urged other ministers to emulate Keyamo’s results-driven leadership.

“Nigerians are hungry for progress. Minister Keyamo has shown that with political will and strategic planning, development is possible. We encourage other officials to follow suit,” Opialu added.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting reforms and promoting civic engagement in evaluating public officeholders’ performance.
