Kano state government has donated 17 trucks load of assorted food items and 6,000 blankets, worth millions of Naira, to people from Borno and Yobe states that were displaced as a result of insurgency and are taking refuge in camps in these states and in the Republic of Niger.

Shortly before dispatching the donation on Tuesday aftenoon, the state governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso said: “we have heard about the challenges of our people who have left their homes especially from the North eastern part of the country. That is why the state government decided to send some food items and some blankets to them”.

Kwankwaso explained that seven trucks loaded with 3000 bags of maize and 1200 bags of rice would be taken to the Nigerian refugees in Niger Republic, while those in camps in Borno and Yobe would benefit from five trucks each, comprising three trucks of maize and two trucks of rice.

The governor further added that the three areas would each receive 2,000 blankets for distribution to refugees as part of the government effort to alleviate their hardship. He urged the representatives of Yobe and Borno states as well as those of Niger Republic’s consulate who came to collect the donation to ensure that the items reach the beneficiaries on time.

Meanwhile, Governor Kwankwaso has said his government would continue partnering with FRCN, Kaduna to enlighten the public on the policies and programmes of his administration. He stated this while receiving the management of the organization in his office, on Tuesday. The governor, while thanking them for the visit, also expressed appreciation to them for congratulating him on his 58th birthday.

Earlier, the Zonal Director, FRCN, Kaduna, Abba Zayyan said they were on courtesy visit to solicit the governor’s support and cooperation towards a mutually beneficial relationship.
