Atiku, Osinbajo, Amaechi, Pantami, Others Storm Katsina for Buhari’s Final Rites

A host of prominent Nigerian political figures and dignitaries on Tuesday arrived in Katsina State for the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away earlier this week.

The town of Daura, Buhari’s ancestral home, witnessed a heavy influx of mourners, with a strong security presence deployed to manage the large crowds. Personnel from the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigerian Army were stationed at strategic points, enforcing traffic diversions and crowd control to ensure a smooth funeral process.

Among the early arrivals were former Vice Presidents Yemi Osinbajo and Atiku Abubakar, as well as former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi. Former Senate President Ahmad Lawan was also in attendance.

Other dignitaries present include former governors Aminu Bello Masari (Katsina), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), and Ali Modu Sheriff (Borno), a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Business magnate Aliko Dangote, former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Pantami, and former Minister of Women Affairs Pauline Tallen were also spotted at the event.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to lead a federal delegation to Daura later in the day for the final funeral rites. Religious leaders, traditional rulers, and international representatives are also expected to join the solemn occasion.

Security sources say the state funeral will be conducted with full national honours in accordance with Buhari’s status as a former Head of State.
