Six Suspects Arrested for Kidnapping, Rape, Robbery in Nasarawa

Security operatives have arrested six members of a notorious criminal gang linked to a series of kidnapping, rape, and armed robbery incidents in Yelwa Ediya village, located in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The suspects—identified as Darda’u Shehu, Yunusa Malami Hashimu, Musa Abubakar, Ibrahim Musa, Mohammed Musa, and Jibrin Lafia—were apprehended during a coordinated operation following actionable intelligence provided by a concerned resident.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the abduction of a local councillor, Hon. Ari Muhammad, on May 26, 2025. Shockingly, they also admitted that one of their members, Darda’u Shehu, raped the councillor’s wife, Talatu Ari, during the incident and stole two mobile phones: an Infinix Note 30 valued at ₦250,000 and a Tecno device worth ₦20,000.

The gang further confessed to staging an armed roadblock along the Doma–Yelwa Road on July 19, where they attacked a commuter, Ibrahim Haruna, and made away with his Bajaj motorcycle, valued at ₦970,000.

Security forces recovered ₦100,000 in cash and one Bajaj motorcycle believed to have been stolen during one of the gang’s operations.

The suspects also identified two gang leaders still at large—Bammi Alhaji Amme, popularly known as “Zomo,” and one Lawali (surname unknown). Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Authorities have assured the public of their commitment to dismantling criminal networks in the area and bringing all perpetrators to justice.
