Police, Vigilantes Repel Armed Attack in Anambra, Neutralize One
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with the Agunechamba Vigilante Operatives, have foiled an attempted armed attack on Ezinifite community in Nnewi South Local Government Area of the State.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, was swiftly repelled following a coordinated response by the joint security team. During the ensuing gunfire exchange, one of the assailants was neutralized while others fled into nearby bushes with suspected bullet wounds.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, security personnel recovered a pump-action gun and other incriminating materials from the scene, alongside the body of the neutralized suspect.
“Offensive and intelligence-led operations are ongoing in conjunction with Police tactical teams to track down the fleeing suspects,” Ikenga stated.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu commended the joint security team for their vigilance and gallantry. He noted that the successful operation demonstrates the readiness of security agencies to protect all communities, particularly as the November 8, 2025, Governorship Election approaches.
CP Orutugu further assured residents of Anambra State that the Police Command remains fully committed to safeguarding lives and property, combating armed threats, and sustaining peace across the State.
