Sowore Condemns Trump’s Threat of Military Action in Nigeria, Calls for Internal Renewal
Nigerian politician and publisher Omoyele Sowore has strongly denounced the latest threat by U.S. President Donald Trump to launch military action in Nigeria, allegedly to protect Christians, warning that such intervention would be “perilous” and historically destabilizing.
In a social media post, Sowore cautioned against celebrating such rhetoric, regardless of one’s religious affiliation.

“Whether you are Christian, Muslim, animist, or non-religious, no one should celebrate such rhetoric,” Sowore wrote. He pointed to the U.S. and its allies’ track record of military interventions that have failed to secure lasting peace in nations like Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Syria.
The politician argued that salvation for Nigeria would not come “through bombs or boots on the ground.”
Sowore insisted that what Nigeria truly needs is not a foreign savior, but “legitimate, accountable leadership, one that protects all citizens, upholds justice, and ends the cycles of corruption and violence that have left the nation broken.”
He concluded by stating that President Trump does not care about Nigerians, regardless of their faith, and emphasized that the country’s deliverance “will never come from abroad; it must come from within,” through national renewal.
