Police Reaffirms Ban on Motorcycle Passengers, Restricts Tricycle Operations to Daytime
The Kano State Police Command has announced the strict enforcement of the existing ban on motorcycle passenger conveyance and the restriction of commercial tricycles from operating between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily within specified Local Government Areas of the state.
The enforcement, carried out in collaboration with other security agencies, follows earlier directives issued by the Kano State Government. According to the Command, the measures remain fully in force across the following LGAs: Kano Municipal, Gwale, Dala, Fagge, Nassarawa, Tarauni, Kumbotso, Ungogo (Jido area), and Dawakin Kudu (Tambuwal, Gurjiya, and Jido wards).
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command emphasized that enforcement teams have been mandated to profile violators and counter the spread of unverified information capable of stirring fear or confusion among residents.

The police stressed that the restrictions are aimed at enhancing public safety and reducing criminal activities, particularly during nighttime hours. “Any person found operating motorcycles or tricycles in contravention of the ban or restriction will be promptly arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” the statement added.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, urged residents to comply with the regulations and cooperate fully with security personnel to maintain peace and order in the state. The enforcement operation also includes the participation of the Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), which will work alongside the police to ensure complete adherence to the directives.
The Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all residents of Kano State.
