Police Arrest Notorious Armed Robbery Suspect, ‘Abba Fiya’ in Kano
The Kano State Police Command has arrested a notorious armed robbery suspect, Abba Aliyu, popularly known as “Abba Fiya,” during a prompt response to a distress call in Hausawa Quarters, Kano.
The arrest was carried out on December 21 by operatives of the Anti-Daba Unit of the Command, acting in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on swift response to security threats. The operation was conducted under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
Police sources disclosed that the suspect, a 26-year-old resident of Dala Quarters, Kano, was apprehended in connection with an armed robbery incident. A sharp knife was recovered from him at the time of arrest.

During interrogation, Abba Fiya reportedly confessed to his involvement in several armed robbery operations and violent rivalry *Daba* clashes in areas including Gobirawa Gangare, Dala, and Tudun Fulani Mayanka within Kano State. Further discreet investigations revealed that the suspect also admitted to participating in a series of armed robberies across Kano, Rivers, and Lagos States, some of which allegedly resulted in deaths, injuries, and the loss of valuable properties.
The Police Command confirmed that investigations are ongoing, adding that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
Commending the officers for the successful operation, CP Bakori reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities in the state. He also urged members of the public to continue cooperating with the police by providing timely information on suspicious movements or activities.
