Tinubu to Visit Kebbi, Inaugurate Projects, Attend 61st Argungu Fishing Festival
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Saturday undertake a one-day official visit to Kebbi State, where he is scheduled to inaugurate key projects executed by Governor Nasir Idris and attend the 61st edition of the 2026 Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the visit underscores the Federal Government’s support for subnational development initiatives and the promotion of Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
During the visit, President Tinubu will commission projects completed by the Kebbi State Government under Governor Idris’ administration. Although details of the projects were not specified, the inauguration is expected to highlight ongoing infrastructure and development efforts in the state.

The President will also serve as Special Guest of Honour at the 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, one of Africa’s most prominent cultural events.
The annual festival, staged along the historic Matan Fada riverside in Argungu, attracts local and international tourists and showcases traditional fishing competitions, cultural displays, music, and other heritage activities. The festival has earned global recognition, with UNESCO listing it as an Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Humanity.
Observers say the President’s participation in the festival reflects efforts by the Federal Government to promote tourism, cultural preservation, and economic activities linked to Nigeria’s rich traditions.
Tinubu’s visit comes amid renewed focus on strengthening collaboration between the Federal Government and states to advance development and national unity.
