Troops Neutralise Insurgents, Rescue Abducted Children in N’East Region
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully thwarted a terrorist attack, neutralised insurgents, and rescued kidnapped civilians in a series of coordinated operations across Borno and Yobe states.
According to the military, in a major encounter around Sabsawa village in Borno State, troops of Sector 1, while on patrol, engaged suspected members of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS)/ISWAP. The troops responded with overwhelming firepower, forcing the terrorists to flee. Subsequent operations led to the neutralisation of five insurgents.

In a separate operation, soldiers deployed at Ngurosoye rescued three children — Abba Abba (12), Fatima Abba (8), and Aisha Abba (6) — who had been abducted approximately two months ago along the Gubio axis before being moved to Bula-Daloye in Borno State. The rescued children were handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation.
Meanwhile, an 18-year-old suspected terrorist, Abubakar Abubakar, voluntarily surrendered to troops at Geidam in Yobe State and is currently in custody for profiling.
The military stated that across other sectors of OPHK, troops conducted aggressive operations in collaboration with hybrid forces, local vigilantes, and hunters to deny terrorists freedom of movement. All operations were reportedly carried out smoothly, with ongoing monitoring and exploitation continuing across the theatre.
The Joint Task Force high command commended the troops for their professionalism and fighting efficiency, assuring that sustained pressure would continue on terrorist elements until lasting peace and economic stability are restored in the North East.
