Pantami Foundation Distributes ₦33.7 Million Ramadan Food Palliatives Across Gombe
The Professor Isa Pantami Foundation (PIP Foundation) has commenced the distribution of about 12,000 food packages across the 11 local government areas of Gombe State as part of its annual Ramadan intervention programme.
Valued at over ₦33.75 million, the initiative is designed to cushion the effects of economic hardship and provide relief to vulnerable residents during the holy month.
The food packages contain a wide range of essential commodities, carefully assembled to ensure meaningful support for beneficiaries. Items being distributed include thousands of bags of rice in 50kg, 25kg and 10kg sizes, over 1,000 bags each of millet and maize, 900 bags of couscous, 2,500 bags of semovita, 500 cartons of macaroni, and more than 150 bags of sugar, among other staples.
The large-scale distribution is being supervised by a high-level committee to guarantee transparency, fairness and extensive reach. The coordination team is led by Alhaji Abubakar Ahmad Walama (Sarkin Malaman Gombe), Dr. Abubakar Saidu, former Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe, and Arch. Dahiru Saidu, alongside the wife of Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami. They are supported by various youth and women groups across the state.

The Foundation stated that beneficiaries were carefully selected to prioritise those most in need, including orphans, persons with special needs, the elderly, religious scholars, traditional leaders, community heads, as well as organised youth and women groups in all 11 LGAs.
While acknowledging the vast population of the state, the distribution committee appealed for understanding from members of the public, noting that despite the significant scale of the intervention, it would be impossible to reach every household. It emphasised that the selection process focused strictly on vulnerability and social impact.
Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, has sustained a tradition of Ramadan philanthropy in Gombe State over the years. This year’s ₦33.75 million intervention marks an increase from the ₦27 million disbursed last year to support religious scholars and underprivileged residents.
A dedicated segment of the programme targeting Islamic scholars is being coordinated by Dr. Umar Garba Dokaji, in recognition of the critical role scholars play in spiritual guidance and community development.
Beneficiaries across the state have expressed appreciation for the timely support, describing the food palliatives as a major relief amid rising living costs. Many offered prayers for Professor Pantami and the Foundation, commending the consistency of the initiative as a demonstration of sustained commitment to the welfare of Gombe residents.
