FRSC Confirms 10 Dead, 20 Injured in Niger Tanker Crash, Warns Against Traffic Violations
No fewer than 10 persons have been confirmed dead and 20 others injured in a road crash that occurred on Monday along the Tafa–Gujeni route in Niger State.
The incident, which happened around 8:20 a.m. at Malam Tanko within the Tafa axis, involved a DAF tanker carrying 33 male occupants, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
Preliminary findings by the FRSC indicate that the crash was caused by excessive speeding, which led to loss of control. The Corps also disclosed that the vehicle was engaged in illegal mixed loading—transporting both goods and passengers—contrary to safety regulations.
