Easter Celebrations: NSCDC Deploys 57,000 Personnel to Ensure Adequate Security
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has approved the nationwide deployment of over 57,000 personnel to ensure a safe and peaceful Easter celebration across the country.
The Commandant General of the Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, sanctioned the large-scale operation as part of proactive measures to strengthen security and safeguard lives, property, and critical national assets during the festive period.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the NSCDC National Public Relations Officer, Afolabi Babawale, the deployment covers all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with a combination of regular operatives, intelligence officers, and specialised tactical units.
The statement noted that the operation is designed to preempt potential security threats while ensuring comprehensive protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure nationwide.

To achieve this, the Commandant General has directed Zonal Commanders, State Commandants, and Provosts of Colleges to take full charge of security coordination within their respective jurisdictions. High-risk and high-traffic locations such as churches, shopping centres, parks, and recreational facilities will be placed under intensive surveillance, including both overt patrols and covert operations.
Audi emphasised the need for heightened vigilance and effective collaboration with other security agencies, stressing that timely intelligence sharing and rapid response mechanisms remain crucial to the success of the operation.
“Our goal is a seamless and secure Easter season. We are working hand-in-hand with sister agencies to maintain order,” he said, while also urging parents and guardians to ensure proper supervision of their children to prevent their involvement in activities capable of disrupting public peace.
He further disclosed that specialised units of the Corps—including the Special Intelligence Squad, Mining Marshals, Special Female Squad, and the Crack Squad—have been placed on maximum alert and are fully prepared to respond swiftly to any threats.
The NSCDC boss also called on members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities to the nearest NSCDC formation or other relevant authorities.
The Corps reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that citizens celebrate the Easter season without fear or disruption.
