Troops Eliminate B’Haram Fighters in Borno, Rescue 6 Hostages in Bauchi
Nigerian troops have recorded fresh operational gains against armed groups in the North-East, including the neutralisation of Boko Haram fighters and the rescue of six kidnapped victims across Borno and Bauchi States.
In Borno State, troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion eliminated four Boko Haram terrorists during a pre-dawn ambush in Askira Uba Local Government Area.
Security sources said the operation followed intelligence reports of suspicious movement along the Damboa–Chibok axis. Acting on the information, troops of A Company were positioned at Mussa, where they made contact with the insurgents at about 2:30 a.m. on April 12.

The troops engaged the attackers with superior firepower, killing four terrorists while others fled the scene, reportedly abandoning weapons and other materials. Subsequent exploitation operations at about 6:15 a.m. led to the rescue of three kidnapped victims in a terrorist enclave ahead of Old Hyum.
The victims, identified as Fulani residents of Lagunasa community in Askira Uba LGA, are currently receiving medical attention and humanitarian support while clearance operations continue in the area.
In a separate operation in Bauchi State, troops of the CSI Battalion recovered three kidnapped victims during a patrol in Garin Bagobiri, Alkaleri Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out at about 11:30 a.m. on April 12, followed sustained exploitation of the general area after an earlier air strike on suspected terrorist hideouts on April 10.
Security sources said the victims were recovered during the patrol, profiled by troops, and subsequently handed over to an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Futuk for care and documentation.
Military authorities said the ongoing operations in both states are aimed at consolidating recent gains, dismantling terrorist networks, and denying armed groups freedom of movement across the region.
