Troops Rescue 4 Women, 2 Children from Terrorists in Katsina
Troops of the 17 Brigade under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six kidnap victims who were abandoned by fleeing terrorists during a military offensive in Unguwan Doka, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The rescue operation was conducted on Monday, 29 June 2026, as troops intensified offensive operations against terrorist enclaves within the area.
The rescued victims comprise four women and two children. They were identified as Mrs. Umaima Isiaku, 30; Amina Isiaku, 25; Fatima Saidu, 22; Huzaima Nasiru, 16; as well as two children, Usman Surajo, aged one, and Dauda Isiaku, aged 18 months.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the victims were abducted by armed terrorists on 11 March 2026 along the Tsafe–Bilbis Road in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State while travelling from their hometown.

The victims, who are all indigenes of Bilbis village in Zamfara State, disclosed that they had remained in terrorist captivity for more than three months before they were abandoned by their captors as troops advanced on their hideout during the operation.
Military sources said the victims were safely evacuated from the area and are receiving necessary care following their rescue.
Authorities also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to reunite the rescued victims with their respective families after the completion of necessary documentation and debriefing procedures.
The successful rescue underscores the sustained operational pressure being mounted by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA against terrorist and kidnapping networks operating across the North-West, particularly within Katsina and Zamfara states.
Security forces have continued to intensify offensive operations aimed at dismantling terrorist strongholds, rescuing kidnapped victims and restoring security across the region.
