NIPR Congratulates Omoniyi on Re-Election as APRA Secretary General
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has congratulated Dr. Omoniyi lbietan on his re-election as the Secretary General of the African Public Relations Association (APRA) for a second term in office, describing it as a milestone for the Institute at the international stage.
Dr. Omoniyi, a Fellow of NIPR secured his second tenure in office through election on Thursday in Swakopmund, Namibia at the 2026 Annual General Meeting of the Association.
Reacting to the victory, the President, Chairman of Council of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku described the re-election as affirmation of confidence in leadership and values that Dr. Omoniyi has brought to the table in the past two years towards advancement the ideals of the continental body.

Dr. Neliaku while assuring of the Institute’s continued support to the Secretary General and APRA, called on all African countries to rise in unison as a continent towards hosting the forthcoming World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), and 37th Conference of the APRA scheduled to hold from 15th – 21st November, 2026, in Abuja, Nigeria.
Dr. Omoniyi’s re-election comes at a pivotal moment when the continent has just announced the “Africa Declaration on the Professionalisation of Public Relations and Responsible Communication” that aims to establish a communication framework that recognises peculiarities of the African operating environment, which Nigeria is one of the leading founding signatories.
