Military Foils Terrorist Attacks, Rescue Six Kidnap Victims, Recovers Arms in Kaduna, Sokoto
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recorded fresh operational successes in Kaduna and Sokoto states, repelling terrorist attacks, rescuing six kidnapped victims and recovering weapons, ammunition and motorcycles during separate operations.
Military sources told Zagazola Makama that in Kaduna State, troops of the 2 Nigerian Mobile Force (2 NMF), operating under Sector 1 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, came under a surprise ambush by suspected terrorists while on a fighting patrol at Abrom Village in Kachia Local Government Area at about 10:00 a.m. on July 20.
The troops responded with overwhelming firepower, forcing the attackers to flee into the surrounding bush.
During a follow-up exploitation of the area, the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and 50 rounds of 7.62×39mm ammunition believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing terrorists. No casualties were recorded among the troops during the encounter.

In a separate operation in Sokoto State, troops of the 1 Brigade deployed at the Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) in Shagari and Sifawa rescued six kidnapped victims after repelling a terrorist attack on Wanke and Kaura villages in Shagari Local Government Area.
The operation was launched at about 11:25 a.m. on July 20 following intelligence reports that suspected terrorists had attacked the communities and abducted several residents.
On arrival, the troops engaged the assailants in a fierce gun battle, compelling them to abandon the victims and flee into nearby bush paths.
The soldiers successfully rescued all six kidnapped victims and recovered two motorcycles believed to have been used by the terrorists during the attack.
The rescued victims were evacuated to safety for medical evaluation and debriefing, while troops commenced pursuit operations to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Military authorities said the operations underscore the sustained offensive posture of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in dismantling terrorist networks, protecting vulnerable communities, rescuing abducted civilians and denying criminal elements freedom of action across the North-West.
