Troops Arrest Two Suspected B’Haram Informants, Cattle Rustlers in Yobe Market
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested two suspected Boko Haram informants and cattle rustlers during a joint intelligence-led operation at the Buni Yadi Friday Market in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation, conducted by troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade in collaboration with local hunters, was carried out at about 2:00 p.m. on July 24 following credible intelligence on the suspects’ activities.
The suspects were identified as Muhammadu Sani, 32, of Mainahari in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, and Buba Umaru, 40, of Garin Jauro in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.
According to military sources, the operation turned violent when one of the suspects allegedly attacked a member of the hunters’ group with a cutlass while resisting arrest.
The hunter sustained serious head injuries and received immediate medical attention, while troops subdued and arrested both suspects.
Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that Muhammadu Sani confessed to serving as a logistics supplier and informant for Boko Haram for nearly seven years.

He was also said to have admitted leading insurgents to the homes of two residents during separate attacks, enabling the terrorists to rustle cattle from the communities.
Military sources said the information provided by the suspect is expected to support ongoing intelligence operations aimed at dismantling terrorist support networks and disrupting logistics channels used by insurgents across the North-East.
The two suspects are currently in the custody of the 27 Task Force Brigade, where they are undergoing further investigation to establish the extent of their alleged involvement in terrorist logistics, intelligence gathering and cattle rustling.
Security officials described the arrests as another indication of the importance of intelligence sharing and collaboration between the military and community-based security groups in identifying and apprehending individuals suspected of supporting terrorist operations.
They reaffirmed that troops of Operation HADIN KAI would sustain operations targeting terrorist collaborators, informants and logistics networks as part of broader efforts to weaken insurgent capabilities and enhance security across the North-East.
