Adeniyi Receives Lifetime Achievement Award for Customs Administration
The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has received the Lifetime Achievement in Customs Administration Award at the 10th anniversary edition of the Nigeria Most Influential Awards in Abuja.
Adeniyi was honoured at the ceremony held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in recognition of his leadership and contributions to the transformation of Customs administration, particularly in trade facilitation, revenue generation, technology-driven reforms and institutional repositioning.
The awards ceremony, held under the theme, “Celebrating 10 Years of Influence and Impact,” brought together prominent Nigerians and other distinguished personalities to celebrate individuals whose contributions have had significant impact on society and their respective fields.
Speaking after receiving the award, Adeniyi expressed appreciation for the recognition, saying it was an indication that the reforms and initiatives implemented by the NCS under his leadership were making an impact.
“When this kind of recognition comes, naturally, you must be delighted. You must be happy,” he said.

The Customs chief, however, noted that the honour should not be viewed solely as a reward for past achievements but also as a call to sustain and deepen ongoing reforms.
“This kind of award is a statement of saying that we’ve done well, but we know that this type of award is a statement of saying we can still do more,” he added.
Adeniyi said the recognition reflected the impact of measures introduced to modernise Customs administration, simplify and improve trade processes, strengthen revenue collection and reposition the Service to better meet its statutory responsibilities.
He also highlighted the broader social impact of the NCS, including initiatives such as Customs Cares, which seeks to extend the Service’s intervention beyond its traditional revenue and trade facilitation functions.
The organiser of the Nigeria Most Influential Awards, Ambassador Vivian Lau, said the initiative was established to recognise individuals whose positive contributions have influenced society and made a difference in their communities.
The 10th anniversary celebration featured musical performances, dance and comedy, while the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement in Customs Administration Award to Adeniyi emerged as one of the major highlights of the event.
