Troops Kill Scores of Terrorists, Intercept Ammunition in Zamfara, Kaduna
Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised terrorists and intercepted a large consignment of ammunition in separate operations across Zamfara and Kaduna states.
The operations, conducted on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, were aimed at disrupting terrorist activities and the movement of arms and ammunition within the Joint Operations Area.
In Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2, acting on credible intelligence about the movement of terrorists from the Fakai General Area towards Kwanar Jolof and Tashar Dole in Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas, laid an ambush at Kwanar Jolof.
According to a statement issued by the JTF North-West Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the troops engaged the terrorists, neutralising scores of them, while others fled in disarray.

During the exploitation of the area, the troops recovered one rocket-propelled grenade launcher, one RPG bomb, one AK-47 rifle, six AK-47 magazines, 106 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle, among other items.
Meanwhile, in Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1 intercepted a vehicle at a snap checkpoint along the Saulawa-Zaria Road.
The statement said one of the passengers resisted a search of his bag and attempted to flee after being compelled to open it.
The troops pursued and neutralised the suspect, while a subsequent search of the bag uncovered 793 rounds of ammunition concealed inside gari.
The vehicle and its driver have been taken into military custody for further investigation.
The military said the operations formed part of the sustained offensive by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt the flow of arms and ammunition and deny terrorists freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
The task force reaffirmed the troops’ commitment to sustaining operations aimed at restoring lasting peace and security to communities affected by terrorism across the North-West.
