NAF Commissions New Accommodation, Sports Facilities to Boost Personnel Welfare
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned newly completed accommodation and recreational facilities in Abuja as part of efforts to improve personnel welfare, renew infrastructure and enhance operational effectiveness.
The projects, commissioned on Friday, September 4, 2026, by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, include Airmen’s Quarters at Mogadishu Cantonment and Abacha Road, the 065 Medical Officer’s Quarters and the NAF Valley Base Sports Complex in Asokoro.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Aneke described the projects as a significant milestone in the NAF’s deliberate efforts to improve the living conditions, physical well-being and overall effectiveness of its personnel.
He stressed that adequate accommodation and recreational facilities were critical to sustaining personnel morale, fostering cohesion, promoting physical fitness and enhancing operational readiness.

The CAS also disclosed that the NAF was pursuing a sustainable framework for affordable homeownership for its personnel and their families as part of broader efforts to strengthen welfare provisions within the service.
According to him, the newly commissioned accommodation blocks have been named after officers and airmen who either paid the supreme price in the line of duty or distinguished themselves gallantly in operational theatres.
He said the gesture was intended to preserve the legacies of fallen and distinguished personnel while inspiring serving members and future generations of the service.
Aneke commended all individuals and organisations that contributed to the successful completion of the projects, while urging beneficiaries to ensure their proper maintenance and judicious utilisation.
He reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to building a well-supported, motivated and operationally effective force capable of fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities.
The projects form part of the service’s broader infrastructure renewal and personnel welfare initiatives aimed at creating a conducive environment for its personnel and strengthening their capacity to respond effectively to security challenges.
