CAS Charges 351 New Air Force Officers to Translate Training into Operational Gains
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has charged newly commissioned Nigerian Air Force officers to translate the training and values acquired at the Nigerian Defence Academy into effective operational service to the nation.
Aneke gave the charge while congratulating the 351 Air Force officers commissioned during the Combined Passing Out Parade of the Nigerian Defence Academy, urging them to embrace their profession with courage, discipline, professionalism and selfless service.
The newly commissioned officers were among 965 cadets who passed out from various programmes of the Academy.
The passing-out cadets comprised 440 members of the 73 Regular Course, including 189 Army, 116 Air Force and 135 Navy cadets; 290 cadets of Short Service Course 49 of the Nigerian Army; 148 cadets of Direct Short Service Course 34 of the Nigerian Air Force; and 87 cadets of Branch Commission Course 3 of the Nigerian Air Force.
The Chief of the Air Staff described the commissioning of the new officers as more than the commencement of a military career, stressing that it marked the assumption of a solemn responsibility to Nigeria and the Nigerian Air Force.

He urged the officers to uphold the values instilled in them at the Academy and continuously develop their professional competence as they take on the responsibilities of commissioned service.
According to him, the officers are expected to serve with integrity, loyalty and distinction while remaining committed to the defence of the nation.
Aneke also reminded the new officers that they had joined a long-standing tradition of military service dedicated to protecting Nigeria and delivering effective airpower in collaboration with the other Services of the Armed Forces.
He assured them of a warm welcome into the Nigerian Air Force family, while urging them to approach their new responsibilities with a strong sense of duty and commitment.
The Chief of the Air Staff further emphasised the importance of inter-Service synergy, noting that the effectiveness of air operations is closely linked to coordinated efforts with the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and other components of the national security architecture.
He charged the officers to build on their Academy training and ensure that their knowledge, discipline and professional skills translate into tangible operational effects in the field.
The commissioning ceremony marked the transition of the cadets from structured military training into active professional service, with the new officers expected to contribute to ongoing efforts to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity and national security.
